£6,000 DAMAGE [Pek United Press Association.] ROTORUA, November 14. Lee Bros.’ saw-mill and general store at Koutu was burned to the ground and the dwelling ball-destroyed early this morning. When the alarm was given the mill was a mass of Haines, which were sweeping oyer tho Ngongotaha-Rotorua highway. the premises are outside the borough area, 1.500 ft from tho Utulnna Stream. The brigade’s powerful engine took up a position on the crown ot the bridge, and with a 1501 b nozzle pressurelield he flames back. A fierce wind swept tho fire through tho stacks of timber, threatening tho whole area, but the brigade with unlimited water, stopped the flames ha 11way across. Three rooms of the dwelling wore left intact, while tho rest were reduced to ashes. The mill and timber, covering threequarters of an acre, are a smouldering mass, and the total loss is estimated at £6.000, partially covered by insurances.
