MARGARET BANNERMAN SEASON

Playgoers of Dunedin are looking forward eagerly to the first appearance of the brilliant and beautiful London actress, Miss Margaret Bannerjnan and Anthony Princep’s London Company, who will bo presented by J. C. Williamson, Ltd., at His Majesty’s Theatre on Saturday night next in Walter Hackett’s clever and very successful comedy drama. 1 Other Men’s Wives,’ which was specially written for Miss Bannerman. Mias Margaret Bannerrnan, like Miss Marie Tempest, commenced her stage > career in musical comedy, though originally she studied the piano for a musical career. After appearing in several musical productions she joined Matheson Lang, and with him she gained valuable experience, and, she says, paved the way for the “more difficult sphere of comedy.” Miss Bannerrnan has since then achieved successes in a long series of dramas and comedies in London, including ‘ Decameron Nights,’ ‘The Naughty Wife,’ ‘Three Wise Fools,’ and ‘ Our Betters.’ “It is difficult—it is not possible—-to estimate where Miss Bannerrnan will eventually find herself on the stage,” wrote William Pollock in the London ‘Daily Mail’ recently. “Her rise during the past three years or so has been extraordinary, and it is now quite clear that she is only at the beginning of a brilliant future. She is one of our greatest hopes among the young dramatic actresses.” Miss Bannerrnan is certain to be welcomed by a largo and fashionable audience when she appears in ‘Other Men’s AVives,’ and her season here is likely to prove as successful as those she enjoyed in Australia. ‘ Other Men’s Wives ’ will be followed by ‘Our Betters’ and ‘Diplomacy.’ Bos plans open Thursday morning.
