ARMISTICE DAY CEREMONY
AN INTERESTING SUGGESTION TROOPS WITHOUT EQUIPMENT. Press Association—By Telegraph—Copyright. LONDON, October 28. The suggestion that the troops participating in the Cenotaph ceremony should not carry arms is arousing interest, and it is urged that it would symbolics the nation’s desire for permanent peace. The ‘Daily Herald’ says: “If troops without arms at the Cenotaph will contribute a wider realisation of the horror and futility of war, let them be without arms.”
The ‘Daily Chronicle’ says; “If (lie soldiers present can introduce’ unreality only by parading without arms—a soldier without arms cuts a sorry figure—do without soldiers at_the Cenotaph, or retain them. But if they arc retained you cannot ask them to bo ashamed of their equipment.”—Australian Press Association.
