SOCIALIST LABOUR PARTY’S REAL PLATFORM.
TO THB EDITOB Sir, —Tho Labour Party has issued a manifesto of fourteen clauses, which its candidates arc presenting as their policy. Hero are another fourteen clauses which arc to bo found in the official platform of tho party, adopted at it-s annual conference, and which are not in tho manifesto they are seeking tho electors’ votes on; nor is the objective, which reads “the socialisation ot the means of production, distribution, and exchange ” : (1) The enactment of tho initiative, tho referendum, and tho recall. (2) Tho abolition of tho Legislative Council. , . (3) A State bank to act as a central bank, with full control of note issue. (4) Extension of the State Advances Office to provide all credit necessary for primary production. (6) State-owned shipping service. (6) State ownership of all branches of insurance. (7) Establishment of State farms for tho purpose of producing the peoples foodstuffs. (5) The extension of public ownerslip of national utilities and tho speedy national control of tho food supplies of tho people. Where national ownership of an industry is effected all labour for such industry and at least half the board of control in each case shall be appointed by the union or unions affected. (9) Nationalisation of the medical services, with free medical, dental, and maternity attention. (10) Perfect equality between tho sexes in all departments of life. (11) Tho repeal of the Military Service Act and tho Defence Act. (12) The extent of disarmament or defence to bo. determined by the circumstances prevailing when the party assumes office as tho Government ot tho dominion. (13) The industrial and political unitv of tho workers of all countries for the purpose of superseding Capitalism by an industrial democracy and ol forming not a league of nations, but a league "of peoples. . (14) The unity of all workers in all countries in a world federation of peoples for tho purpose of peacefully organising all tho resources of the world for the peoples of the world, and thus ending tho exploitation by private Capitalism. Affirming of tho principle of self-determination to bo applied to all races for tho purpose of terminating the ruthless plundering of nations by modern Imperialists. T\o are, etc., N'.Z.
