Scott, and J. S. Hislcp. Superintendent A. Cl. Napier’s monthly report stated Fifty-one calls were attended by the brigade during tho month. Of these eleven were fires;in or on property, sixteen were chimney fires, fourteen bush or rubbish fires, five justifiable false alarms, four maliciously given false alarms, and one an automatic false alarm. Nothing in the above called for special mention unless it be the large number of chimney fives and the fact that the dry season was responsible for tiie gorse fires. In this connection he thought he was justified in pointing out that gorse was being permitted to spread at a rate which sooner or later would be an expensive matter of eradication to tho City Council. Tho new fire alarm circuit, authorised by the board to be instated in tbc Anderson’s Bay and Tainui districts, was now in commission. With the exception of motor No. 1, which was off duty for overhaul'.' all the plant and ccpiipment was in good and proper order. The hoard’s lire stations were in good order and condition. Ninety-six calls had been answered by the ambulance motors which had covered a distance of GST miles, The report was adopted. Accounts amounting to T.l,Uio 1-ls 9d were passed for payment.
