Mmiss to Singapore.’ The new .Mclro-Cloldwy n-Mayor production, directed by William Nigh, is a Urania lie romance of the hiuh seas, laid aboard the old clipper ship, Xew England and the mysterious Orient. Xovarro plays a young sailor, one of throe seagoing brother< who, in an amazing tangle, of lov' and adventure, figures,in desporat ' run-. across ilie I’:k (lie, mi/ tiny, and oiler graphic details incidental lo a charming line stor\. .A notable cast supports (ho star, .loan Crawford, heroine of ‘West Point‘ Spring Fever,’ and 'Twelve -Miles Out,' is ilie heroin., of the new sea drama. Knm.-i Torrence, Edward Connelly, Frank Currier, dames Mason, Dan Wolln dm, Duke (Martin Anna May Wong, and others of note are in the cast. Much of the picture was taken aboard the famous old clipper, ‘Narwahl,’ which sailed for several weeks on a "Pacific cruise, during which the sea act ion including a terrific .storm, a mutiny, and an attack" by Oriental gangsters and pirates was filmed. The Singapore scenes are elaborate, including a famous resort of sailors in the “ melting pot of the Orient,” in which practically every nationality on the face of the earth is seen. The story deals with the love of two brothers for the same girl, and a, rivalry that precipitates a tremendous climax. It, was adapted from a sea romance by Hen Ames Williams, famous novelist. William Nigh, who directed the play, is famous for such productions as 4 Air Wu ’ and •'Tim Fire Brigade.’ The entire film lias been staged on an impressive scale, whole villages having been creeled tor some of the many spectacular scones. These largo and authentic, suitings add immeasurably to the realism and fascination of the film.
