A. AND P. SOCIETY

TAHUKA PARK SCHEME The social committee appointed to consider tho proposals to erect suitable buildings at Tahuna Park to meet the requirements of the manufacturers and the society met on Tuesday, those present being Mr W. 0. M’Kellar (president), Messrs Geo. Black, J. W. Blair, James Begg, S. Bowman, H. C. Campbell, E. C. Hazlett, T. T. Ritchie, 1). J. Ross, Chas. Todd, and H. Turner. Mr M‘K.ellar explained that the meeting had been called for the purpose or continuing negotiations with tho manufacturers if the committee considered it advisable. He pointed out that the resolution passed at the special meeting of members was subject to certain conditions,'but he did not anticipate that there would be any difficulty in agreeing to at least three or tho conditions. The first was tho question of the society retaining the title of Tahuna P.ark. The second was that tho society’s liability in connection with the should be clearly defined. There might be some diflerence ot opinion in regard to that clause, and it would have to be fully discussed with the manufacturers. The third condition was that the society should retain its identity and control any fixtures held under its auspices. The fourth condition was that the Crawford street premises be sold before the society was committed to any large expenditure at Tahuna Park. After a full discussion of the whole position it was decided to appoint Messrs W. 0. M'Kellar, Geo. Black, E. C. Hazlett. and Chas. Todd to meet representatives of the manufacturers at an early date, when it is suggested that the question of finance, and defining the interest in the proposed' scheme, and the control of the buildings, _ would bo fully considered, and a decision arrived at which would enable the two principal bodies to arrive at an amic able arrangement. P.lans of the proposed building were considered, and it was decided to defer making any suggestions until after the meeting with the manufacturers.
