GOOD TEMPLARY

A concert under the auspices of the Pride of VVaitati Lodge and Star oi Hope Juvenile Temple of the International Order of Good Templars was held in tho Good Templars Hall, VVaitati, on Saturday night. Tho audience included friends from surrounding townships, and a large number from the Rescue and Star of Freedom Lodges, Dunedin. Bro Thomas H. Dalton, Grand Chief Templar, occupied the chair, and congratulated (he VVaitati members on the energy and enthusiasm they had shown since the institution of tho lodge and temple. A. lino programme was rendered by tho following:—Bro. E. 11. Sincock, solo; Air M. Gaston, elocutionary items; Aliss I. M'Donald, solo; Air J. Douglas, solo; Mr and Airs Grace, duel; Airis Davidson, solo; Airs Bisslaml and Aiks M'Donald, duct. Paul Reno, tho juggling humorist, also entertained the audience with a most interesting exhibition. At lha conclusion of the concert programme the coronation ceremony in connection with tho recently-concluded queen carnival competition was held, tho crowning ceremony being conducted by Bro. VV. lies, Grand Counsellor. Bro. Brookes, of the Pride of Wait all Lodge, was director of ceremonies. Sister Ida Sollwood, of the Star of Hope Ju venilo Temple, was crowned queen,, while Sister Patty Phillpocts Was decorated maid of honour, (ho decoration being a beautiful inscribed sash donated hv two brothers from the Rescue Lodge. Tho crown was donated by Sisters lies and .Mercer, of Rescue Lodge. Congratulations to the queen and maid of honour were expressed by Bro. T. Dalton (Grand Lodge), Mr Jarvis (on behalf of residents of VVaitati, who also presented bouquets to both sisters), Sister Wilkinson (on behalf of Star of Hope Temple), Bro. Hilton (Star of the South and Evcrhopcful Temples), Bro. E. lies (Rescue Lodge), and Bro. J. Rohcrfson (C.T. of Pride of VVaitati Lodge). One of the tiny tots from the Star of Hope Juvenile Temple also presented Sister Sollwood #ith a beautiful bouquet, and both Sisters Sollwood and Phillpotts were the recipients of bouquets from tho brothers and sisters of (he Rescue Lodge. Tho following noted ns accompanists during the evening:— Aliss D. Fraser, Aliss Grace. Airs Douglas, Airs Bi.sslaml, and Mr Couch. Mrs Townsend played the inn relics for tho coronation ceremony,

The weekly meeting of Ib’pe of Dunedin Lodge, No. 105, 1.0.G.T., was held in the lodge rooms on Wednesday, The meeting took the form of a fancy dress carnival. C.T. Bro. South, ten., was in the chair, and extended a hearty welcome to the large number of members and visitors present. Shepherd, double-sided man, 2. The judges were Mrs Newton, Miss Harris, and Mr Hedges. Dancing and games were indulged in, after which supper was then passed round. Rro. A. Price and his daughter wore the musicians for the. evening, both being thanked for services. Sister and Mr Raynor wore also thanked for providing greenery for the decorations. .
