CANTERBURY BEATS SOUTH CANTERBURY The Canterbury touring team defeated South Canterbury at Tiraaru yesterday, before 2,000 spectators, by 21 point's to 16. In the first half the game was much below interprovincial standard, but in the second both sides showed improved form, and the game was fast and exciting nr times. jno home side had the advantage of a strong wind in the first half, and led at tho interval by 8 points to 6. South Canterbury played a great game in the second half, although facing the wind, tho forwards outclassing the visitors in all departments. The home side put on 8 more points beforjs the visitors increased their first half total. The latter then scored a converted try and an unconverted try and also kicked two field goals, giving them a 5-point victory. On the run of the play South Canterbury were unlucky to lose.
