Mr C. A. Wecclon, of this city,, lias received word that lie has boon awarded a silver plaque in the amateur photographer oversea annual competition. This competition, held each year in London, attracts entries From all corners of the I'impirc, the silver plaque, the highest award, being highly coveted, Mr Wcedou, who has this year successfully exhibited at many salons in America, England, ami the Continent, is a member of the Dunedin Photographic Society. The mayor (Mr W. B. Taverner) made re Fere nee at the meeting of the City Council last night to the death of Mr' Charles It. Chapman, an ex-mayor of Dunedin. His Worship said it was lifting that the council should show some" mark of respect to the memory of Mr Chapman, who was well known to councillors.
