HAND-TO-PAW FIGHT

WILD BEAST HUNT PANTHERS, POULTRY, AND POLICE. There was an exciting time in tho little coast town of a ocanip, between Havre and Dieppe, France. A circus was arriving shortly after 5 o’clock, when an accident occurred to a motor caravan, and a leopard and ihreo panthers escaped into the slreets and away to the open. While the polioe organised a hunt the four animals were helping themselves to the poultry on a little farm ou tho outskirts of the town. A boy of 13 years, who came out of the farmhouse to see what was tho mailer, was attacked and badly wounded by one of the panthers. One of the gendarmes who had been sent to shoot the animals found that his carbine was empty. Ho had an exciting band-to paw fight with a panther. In the end be felled il by a blow with tho butt end of bis gun.
