(Received August 22, at 10 a.m.) At Newport, Holbrook Hyde, of Springfield, Massachusetts, , defeated Hopman 6-4, 9-7, in the third round of the invitation tournament. (Received August 22, at. 2 p.m.) At Newport, in the second round, Crawford defeated Arthur Ingraham (Providence), 6-3, 0-3. Iu the tlnrd round Hunter defeated J. B. Fennn (Newport), 6-3, 7-5, and Lott defeated E. L. Thalmeyer (Dallas), 6-3, 6-3. In the fourth round Doeg ideated Robert Seller (San Francisco), 6-2, 4-6, 6-2.
NEW YORK, August 21. Mr Hunter has circularised all the important tennis players and clubs of the country, asking them to file a protest with the United States, Lawn Tennis Association against taking any,, action relative to Tilden and professionalism until after the current tennis season has ended.
