SIR HUBERT WILKINS AND HIS OLD SCHOOL
A MOUNT BRYAN CELEBRATION Sir Hubert Wilkins was tho object of a celebration at Mount Bryan Public School, which lie attended in bis boyhood. Mount Bryan is 125 miles north of Adelaide and the centre of the district in which Sir Hubert was bom. Though very sparsely occupied, this outback settlement mustered nearly 290 for the ceremony, many of them coming a distance of fifty miles. The gathering included five brothers and one sister of Sir Hubert and fifteen of his schoolmates, also the Minister of Lands, Mr Jenkins, and Sir John Melrose, a blind pasioralist noted for his benefactions. In the school was hung a framed panel illustrating the Polar flight. Mr Jenkins said that the fame of oir Hubert Wilkins had redounded to the honour of the little school which tho explorer attended until ho was sixteen years old as a humble farm lad, who.se characteristics were dovged determination and courage. The gathering voted a resolution of congratulation, which the residents of Mount Bryan are tclesranhing to the explorer.
