GRAND AND PLAZA THEATRES

FRIDAY'S PROGRAMME At the Grand Plaza Theatres on Friday (he tight between Hccncy (New Zealand heavy-weight champion) and Delaney (formerly light heavy-weight champion of the world), which was filmed at the ringside, will be screened in full detail with the most exciting incidents in slow motion. In this fight Hccncy advanced a further stage in his path towards the world’s heavy-weight title, which he disputed with Tunney so recently, and New Zealanders will have the opportunity of seeing their own champion fighting a winning battle against a boxer who is acknowledged to ho one of the best big men in the world. Many of the rounds wore full of action, but midway through the bout Heeney’s ruggedness and superior weight started to tell. He fought harder than ever, and pasted Delaney to the body with some heavy punches that made the American’s knees bend. He dug in so vigorously that Delaney began to hold, and in tiro closing stages Heeucy became more aggressive than ever. Delaney's left hooks and right uppercuts seemed to have no effect whatever on the tough New Zealander, who scored frequently with lefts to the face, and kept digging away for the body as quickly as he could tear himself away from his opponent's embrace. Delaney made a recovery after the tenth round, and for a while kept Hecney busy, but at the finish it was Keeney who had something left, and the last round was a torrid affair, which, on the screen, will keep picturegoers glued to their seats. This fight picture will bo one of the best to be screened locally for a long time, and all who take the slightest interest in boxing should see it.
