SKYLARKING

SAILOPJAH CUT ON THROAT [Psu United Press Association.] AUCKLAND, August 21. Eleven stokers were missing from tho steamer Port Bowen when about to leave Auckland for Napier this evening, and, owing to their absence, her departure had to be postponed until G o’clock to-morrow morning. Later in the evening excitement was caused on board when it was reported that one of the men bad his throat cat

The ambulance was summoned, and took tho man to hospital. The wound was ouly slight, and after six stitches had been ins'erted the man was taken back to the ship. Later he was walking about tho vessel, apparently very little hurt.

According to the man’s statement the injury was done with a razor when he and some of his comrades were skylarking. This explanation was also given by tho ship’s officers, and consequently no action was taken by tho police.
