OTAGO CENTRE’S MEETING The monthly meeting of the Otago Centre of tho Amateur Athletic Association was held last night, when Mr E. L. Alacassey presided. Tho New Zealand Amateur Athletic Association, Wellington, wrote regarding the overseas tour, and stated that it had been decided to ask Dr. IT. E. Porritt to co-opcrato with Mr Amos in inviting Lord Burghley and D. G. A. Lowe to tour New Zealand next season. If they were not available, Williams, the sprint champion, should be invited to come. The proposed itinerary of the tour was as follows-Leave Southampton December 7, arrive in New Zealand on January 1.0: Auckland, January U); Napier. January 22; Gisborne, January 2ti; flaw era, January JO; Wanganui, February 2; Wellington, Fcbuary 9; Canterbury, February 13; Dunedin, February 16; Dunedin, Uamaru, and Invercargill, February 20; Christchurch, February 23; Canterbury, February 27; Wellington, March 2; Auckland, March 9; and leave New Zealand on March 15. The estimated expenses would amount to £B9O, the guarantees required being; The council £4OO, Auckland £7O, Wanganui-Taranaki £7O, Wellington £175, Canterbury £lO5, Otago £7O. As to the Scholz-Hahn tour, the guarantees would bo forwarded to the council before the athletes left for New Zealand. Tho meetings would be controlled by the various centres, Regarding the guarantees, after repayment, 25 per cent, of tho balance would go to the council, and the remaining 75 per cent, would be divided amongst the centres in proportion to tho profits earned.—lt was resolved that, tho proposals in regard to the tour should be accepted. Air Clark reported that the points gained by tho different clubs in tho Port Chalmers Road Race, towards the Nickels Cup, were as follow; Hanover Street 40, Civil Service 41, Pacific 47. Cavorsham 47, Leith 54, Anglican 69, St. Kiida 76, Northern 85. University 90.—Received.
In connection with tho cross-country championship at Wanganui it was decided to send letters of thanks to the Wanganui centre, to .Messrs. Orchard Bros, Westwood, and Ollenishaw for the kindness extended to members ot the team by them. Thanks wore also tendered to Alt Heaton in this connection. Tho following judges wore appointed for the fourteen miles marathon race to bo run on Saturday next. ;~*-Alessrs. .Melville, Bealson, Roscvear, Breen, Clark, and Swiimoy. Air Burk will be starter, and Alcssrs. Hogg and Nelson timekeepers. In regard to the proposal to hold a modified marathon walking race, it was suggested that such a fixture should be held in October, and delegates were asked to inquire how many entries they could get. It was decided to hold an ordinary a ports meeting on the first Saturday in October, or as soon after that date as possible. It was also decided to hold an iuterclub challenge meeting ioi a trophy presented by Air Suinne;. The date should be as early as possible after tho other meeting. If there should he one or two members from each club in each event, the competition should he restricted to harriers. A committee was appointed to deal with the necessary preliminaries. Mr P. Breen was accorded a hearty vote of thanks for donating cups for the cross-country team.
