MONTHLY MEETING The monthly meeting of the Dunedin Fir© Board yesterday was attended bv the chairman (Mr J. Wilson) and Messrs W. A. Scott, A. Burn, J. b. Hislop, J. L. Salmond, and Ivl. Anreport tho superintendent (Mr A. G. Napier) stated that fifty—six calls wero attended by the brigade dunng the month. Ot these fifteen were fares iu or on property, eighteen were chimney fires, seven bush or rubbish fares, ten wore malicious false alarms, tour were justifiable false alarms, one an accidental false alarm, and one an automatic false, alarm. Eighteen chimney fires which were answered seemed to point to a certain amount ot neglect by liouscholders in the matter ot care of their own property, but, of course, it had to be remembered that this was winter, and somewhat large fires were called for to heat the home. One hundred and twenty-three calls were answered by the St. John Ambulance motors during the month, the distance being 685 running miles. The report was adopted. Accounts amounting to £981) is id were passed for payment.
