The express which passed through Dunedin last night at 11.30 was an unusually full train. Amongst the through passengers were Messrs H. J. Middleton and Jolm Smith, who represent tho South Island Dairy Association, on route to Wellington to meet the Dairy Control Board, which meets next Tuesday to appoint its shipping agents in the South Island for the approaching season. The South Island Dairy Association have been the S(/ith Island shipping agents of the Control Board since the latter's inception. Amongst the through passengers by last night’s express to Christchurch were Messrs H. Mason (Invercargill) and W. Kennedy (Otautau). Messrs E. H. Lough, H. Hudson, and L. G, Hill were passengers from Dunedin by last night’s express for Christchurch.

Mr M. T. Timpany, who represents the Southland ward on the Dairy Control Board, was a through passenger from Woodlands on last night’s express, eu route to attend a meeting of the board in Wellington. The death occurred at Sydney on Friday, after a severe illness, of Mr William Herbert Brown, editor of the Government ‘ Agricultural Gazette,’ under the Sydney Lands Department. Ho was fifty-five years_ of age. MiBrown was born in Christchurch, and was the eldest son of Mr E. C. Brown, St. Martins. Ho was editor of the ‘ Agricultural Gazette ’ for sixteen years, and before that was editor of the Dubbo ' Daily Times,’ New South Wales. Ho leaves a wife and daughter.—Christchurch correspondent. The latest arrivals at the Grand Hotel are Mr W. Park (Hawera), Messrs L. 0. Rothschild, A. W. Osborne, I. M'William, S. B. Henderson, A. B. Lloyd, T. W. Nicholson, and J. Coates, Misses G. Brown, and E. L. Ross (Wellington), Mr and Mrs Edgar Shand (Kokonga), Mr C. Kidd (Otautau), Mr A. MTvcnzie (Invercarvisitors to the Excelsior Hotel include Messrs T. Spence, H. Murphy, T. Sherwood, A. Hazelton, J. Matheson, and T. Bukford (Wellington), Mr A. Pollock (Roxburgh).
