SINGER’S TRAGIC DEATH
OPERA MOTIF REPRODUCED MONTREAL, August 1. Just after singing the prologue to the opera ‘II Pagliacci,’ Robert Stevenson, chief engineer of the steamer Bcaverford, dropped dead. His death boro a strange connection with the motif of the opera, which concludes with the grim cynicism: “The comedy is finished.” was entertaining his brother officers on board the ship in much the same way as the original troupe interpreted the opera.
