(Received August 10, at 1.10 p.m.) Business circles in St. Louis have recently been jarred by two great defalcations. The insurance examiners received a written statement from Roy Toombs (president of the International Life Insurance Company) admitting a shortage of £700,000, while Young (manager of the Now York branch of tho Bank of Italy) confessed to losing £IOO,OOO in speculations.—United Service.
