At a meeting of the Punga Croquet Club the following resolution was passed:—“That the club greatly appreciates the benefits derived from the Summer Time Bill and lio]>cs it will be continued.”

On Wednesday last the Hope of Dunedin Lodge,. 1.0.G.T., held a fancy dress night, Bro. B. South, C.T., being in the chair. The-following were tho prize-winners;—Children’s parade (fifteen competitors)—Bournville cocoa (Jack South) 1, fairy (Betty Strode) 2. Ladies’ parade—New Zealand-made goods (Miss Robertson) 1, Red Riding Hood (Sister J. Beadle) 2. Gentlemen—The sheik (Bro. W. Smith) ]. The skipping competition was won by Bro. .Steel for the brothers and Sister Robinson for the sisters. Elsie and Jean Kirkham gave a duet in character, Bro. De Silva a violin solo, Elsie and Joan Kirkham recitations, and Bros. Campbell and Griffiths, assisted by students from the capping' carnival, attended and gave items. After supper a mock -marriage took place. Bro. Gore, in moving the votes of thanks, declared it was one of the best functions the lodge had ever held. Bro. O’Neil responded on behalf of tho Rescue Lodge. The following wero the successful candidates in the recent combined schools home nursing examination (the lecturer was Sister A E. Kirkpatrick and the examiner Dr Helen Easterfidd): —Marian Anderson, Helen Conlan, Catherine Edwards. Marjorie M’Carthy, Elsie Sligo, Annie Blackie, Lola Fox, Muriel Grocott, Molly M’Carthy, Dolorus Pickup, May Williams, Bessie Cairns, Helen Edwards, Cicely Guthrie, Muriel Mackenzie, Molly Hodden, Helen Walker.
