CRASH AT CROYDON
ACCIDENT DURING TEST FLIGHT FOUR PEOPLE KILLED. Press Association—By Telegraph—Copyright , ' LONDON, July 13. (Received July 14, at 10.15 a.m.) An Imperial Airways Vickers-Vulcan baggage aeroplane, during a test flight crashed in flames. Four people wore killed, including Air Hall, Airways inspection director, and two girl typists, and two others, including tho pilot (Captain Stafford) were injured.—Press Association-United Service. PASSENGERS INCINERATED. LONDON, July 13. (Received July 14, at 12,5 p.m.) The air crash at Croydon was the most serious Imperial Airways disaster for several years. One of those killed was an aircraft inspector. The others killed were all employees of the aerodrome, including two of the most jxrpular typists, who were being given a little joy ride. The machine was quickly scon m difficulties and nose dived with a tilt. ]t crashed in a hedgerow' in a field near the aerodrome, Tho pilot and another were seriously injured, but climbed out, then ’lie machine immediately burst into flames. Hundreds of people ran to try to extricate tho passengers, but they were tragically' uelploss, as they could not go within ten yards of the inferno. The machine was last used during the week-end tost of tho Lowenstein mvstery, when a party of journalists was aboard.—Australian Press Associa lion.
