CONTROL BOARD

EXPENSIVE ELECTIONS

[Feojc Cue Paelumestiki Reportbb.]

WELLINGTON, July 12. . According to Mr Dickie (Patea), it costs £-179 to elect two members of the Meat Control Board, which was too expensive. Ho remarked in the House to-night that if this board did only halt that it claimed, then it had some excuse for its existence. He was in the meat business, and knew something about it. Eight members cost the producers £444 each annually. There should be smaller boards for meat and dairy produce. Though the Dairy Board had a cheaper method of election it had twelve members, but seven would be enough. , „ Mr Voitch: Would you abolish it? Mr Dickie; No. I consider that both boards have done good, but not as much as they claim.
