ASSOCIATION'S ANNUAL REPORT Tho following is a summary of the annual report to be presented by. the executive •• at the' annual mooting of tho School Committees’ Association: — Tho school sports were held this year during March, and were tho usual success. St. Clair School again won the championship shield against keen emupetition. The executive cong-atulited it on its victory. Messrs L. Sanderson and W. H. Steele are the executive’s delegates to tho Schools’ Spcrts Association, and arc ui titled lo ns thanks for their active interest m connection with tho sports meeting. The school committee elections were held during April, and with very few exceptions tho householders’ meetings wore poorly attended. This may possibly bo a’ vote of cbutidcuco in the school committees.' but the executive would, prefer to see much larger attendances and increased •ntovest by householders in tho annual meetings. The executive' believes that >f the householders, had the right of open nomination at the annual meetings considerably greater interest vould bo taken in the meetings. During the year two addresses wore given at the quarterly meetings. Mr \\ r . B. M'EwaU.' librarian to tho City Council, spoke on a 'travelling library scheme about to be introduced into the primary schools in Dunedin city area. Mr L. F. clc Berry, headmaster of Normal School, delivered a striking address on ‘The School Beautiful and the Individuality of the Children.’ Both speakers received a very attentive hearing, and the executive’s best thanks° are duo to these gentlemen for their presence and interest in the association. The executive, after several deputations and conferences with tho Water Committee of the City Council, was rewarded for its efforts by securing a reduction in tho water rate on last vear’s demands. Thanks are due to the Dunedin City Council for tins teduction.
