LADIES’ GOLF
INVERCARGILL v. ST, CLAIR. Under ideal weather conditions an all-day golf tournament, played on the St. Clair Links, was held on Wednesday between representatives of the Invercargill and St. Clair Ladies’ Clubs. A four-ball bogey match was played in the morning, and resulted as follows :—Miss Kay and Mrs Butcher (St. Clair), 6 up; Mrs Wight and Mrs Gamble (St. Clair), 4 up; Miss Schoen and Mrs Burnett (St, Clair), 1 up; Miss P. M'Queen and Mrs Tansley (Invercargill), 6 up; Mrs Handyside and Miss Perrin (Invercargill), 2 up; Mrs J Garrett and Miss Hamilton (Invercargill), 7 up. Invercargill and St. Clair, all square. The afternoon was devoted to match play, which resulted as follows;—Miss Pilcher lost to Miss Kay, 2 and 1; Mrs Hall-Jones lost to Mrs Butcher. 4 and 3; Mrs Pottinger lost to Mrs Gamble, 7 and 6; Mrs C. F. A. Jones lost to Miss Schoen, 1 down; Mrs T. M. Macdonald beat Mrs Wight. 5 and 4; Miss L. Henderson lost to Mrs Burnett, 6 and 4; Miss P. M'Queen and Mrs A. Smellic, all square; Mrs Tansley beat Miss Martin, 6 and o; Mrs Handysidc beat Mrs Osborne, 6 and 5; Miss Perrin lost to Mrs Jacobs, 1 down; Mrs Garrett cat Mrs Cameron. 4 and Miss Hamilton and Mrs Stirling, all square. St. Clair, 2 up.
