LOCAL AND GENERAL
Last evening, in the Waddell Hall, the ladies of St. Andrew's Church organised an entertainment which consisted of a short talk by Hr and Mrs Waddell on their recent visit To the Homeland and a short musical programme. Mr K. J. Smith look the chair, and. in explaining the object of the entertainment, said that Lire organ which they had in the church was in a rather had state. The organist (Mr R. Nimmo) had supplied a report on what it would cost to bring the, instrument up to date. -This had been found too expensive, so it had been decided to do the most necessary work. It was with the object of raising funds for that purpose that the entertainment had been organised. A series of interesting pictures was shown, and these were explained by Dr and Airs Waddell i nturn. Portions of the trip Home, scenes in London, the English countryside, Scotland, and Ireland were shown, and some remarks hearing on each slide were given. The remainder of the programme was contributed by Mr Davis (song). Dir R. Smith (stories), and Airs Stedman and Afisscs Rcnniek and Langley (instrumental trio). At the conclusion a hearty vote of thanks to Dr and Airs Waddell, the other performers, and the ladies who had arranged the entertainment was moved by Mr J. G. Patterson, and was carried by acclamation.
