BREAD CARTER’S LAPSE

Ho continued in his employment until the end February hist. Ho carried out his duties satisfactorily. Upon his discharge it was discovered that ho had obtained certain moneys which he had failed to account for. Constable Kearton said Thomson, after leaving Wright’s, went to Southland- He later returned to Dunedin when ho lerfrned that the matter had been placed in the hands of the police. Accused made a statement at the Detective Office, in which he admitted his guilt, and attributed his downfall to horse-racing and drink. Thomson pleaded guilty, and was committed to the Supreme Court for sentence. Bail was not applied lor.
