(Received April 22, at 9.5 a.m.) Tho jury acquitted Sinclair in the criminal and civil court actions arising out of tho Teapot Home scandals, and by its verdict rejected tho unanimous decisions of tbo United States Supreme Court and tho United States Circuit Court of Appeals that the Teapot Dome transactions had been fraudulent and corrupt.
Tho jury was out for less than two hours, and at no time was there a danger of a verdict of guilty, only one or two jurors having a slight difficulty in making up their minds. The verdict caused great surprise and it is now undecided whether Fall, who was a co-defendant with Sinclair, will bo tried on tho same charges of fraud.
Senator Norris said: “ We ought to pass a. law that no man worth 1,000000,000 dollars should bo tried for a crime.” Senator Nyo said: “ You cannot convict a millionaire.’'—Australian Press Association.
