Permits have been granted for the following structures Dwellings .‘3O, garages 24, additions 25, alterations 7, shops 4, sheds 4, washhouses 5. VALUATION TOTALS £556,171. March 31 was the end of the financial year, and the total value of the permits for this period is £536,171. This sum includes three contracts done for the Dunedin City Corporation—viz., the crematorium at Tomahawk (Messrs W. Ellis and Co.), fish depot in Frederick street (Messrs O’Sullivan and Bailane), and additions to grand stand at Logan Park (Messrs O’Sullivan and Bailane). The total for these contracts was £5,498. Although the figures of last month do not compare very favourably with those of March, 1927, it must he remembered that the big Town Hall contract (£31,525) came within the scope of the latter. For March, 1928, the permit values were £47,303, as against £54,740 for February.
