BUTTER AND CHEESE. The National Mortgage ami Agency Co., Ltd., have received the following cable from London; —Butter market, slow; finest New Zealand, Kids to IGSs; first grade, IGls to IGGs. Cheese market, steady; finest white and colored, 975; first grade, 965. GRAIN AND PRODUCE. Alcssrs Donald Reid and Co., Ltd., report as under : Oats.—This market remains quite firm at recent rates, but sales are not being reported to any great extent. Growers are of the opinion that oats will be better later in the season. Threshing has not turned out up to expectations, and it is possible that all the oats grown this season will be required in the dominion. A cry lew, if any, have arrived in store so iar. We quote A grade 3s, B grade 2s 9d, sacks extra, on truck, country stations.

Wheat.—The market remains in a •semi-stagnant condition. Threshing is in full swing, and contract purchases arc being delivered Ireely. Millers are not operating at present, and _ consequently very few sales are being effected. The prices ruling are not satisfactory to the majority of the fanners, and very little of the wheat left unsold will change hands'until values improve again. Wc quote; Tuscan 5s fid, Hunter’s 5s 9(1, and Velvet to 6s_4d, sacks extra, on truck, country stations. Chaff: Prime quality is in good demand. Very little is being cut in this district, and merchants have to rely on Canterbury consignments. Once threshing opera lions arc completed, however, it is expected that cutting will commence in earnest, and values will come back to normal again. Prime has been selling ex truck at values to £5 10s per ton. sacks extra, ex truck, Dunedin. There is little or no inquiry for inferior lines.

Potatoes. —There are plenty arriving to cope with the limited demand at present existing. Main crop digging has commenced in some quarters. The yield is quite equal to that of past season’s. Sales arc being effected at prices up to £5 10s, sacks in, cx truck, Dunedin, for best quality rabies.
