It is estimated that hundreds of Chinese .were' killed when a refugee train from Pukow en route to Tientsin collided with an empty military train on a bridge over the Fei River, north of Pengpu. Several carriages plunged 50fb into the river. The refugees climbed ou to the roofs of the carriages. Scores wei’e killed outright and the remainder were drowned. The impact was terrific, and every carriage was derailed on both trains.— Australian Press Association-United Service.
