HOSPITAL GUILD

AML MEETING The thirty-sixth annual meeting of the Dunedin* Hospital Guild was held in the First, Church Hall yesterday afternoon, when Mr David Todd presided over a good attendance of members. The annual report was adopted without discussion on the motion of Mrs D M. Spedding, seconded by Miss Hutchison Miss Tennant, matron of the Dunedin Hospital, expressed her appreciation of the work that the guild was doing, and conveyed the gratitude of the patients for tile garments which had been distributed. Miss M.'Nab hospital hostess, told the members they were filling a great want amongst, the needy, and thanked them on behalf of fcjie recipients of garments.

Miss M‘Gill, on behalf of the inmates of tlie James Powell Rest Home, also thanked the guild for the work it was doing With regard to the James _ Powell Rest Home, the Chairman said that during the past year 114 women had Ksecl through the institution. They been in' the home for varying periods, and had derived great benefit from their stay there. A paragraph in the annual report referred to the gift of £IOO from the late Mrs Gloss. It was interesting to recollect, said the chairman, that tiie first meeting of the guild had been held at the home of Mrs Gloss on May 7, 1892, when Dr Stuart presided. They had several members at the present time who were at that meeting. The guild was doing good work in the community, and the sneaker said that a fine spirit was shown by the members. The election of office-bearers resulted as follows; —President, Mrs R. W. Glendinning; vice-presidents—Mrs D. M. Spedding and Mrs H. Reid; hon. .treasurer. Miss Callander; hon. secretary, Mrs D. Todd; committee—Miss Adams. Mrs J. Ash. Mrs C. Greenslade, Mrs J. N-. Stephens. Mm Eoniison, Mrs R, S. Brown, Miss Hutchinson, and Miss Davidson.
