NO HOPE FOR THE WICKED
TOO BAD EVEN FOR PRISON. The following is a cutting taken from a San Francisco morning paper exactly as it appeared;— “ It’s getting so a young fellow has to fight for his rights in this town. It even takes a pull to get into gaol. “Georgo Bollotti, aged nineteen, ot 346 Filbert street, was found guilty of speeding tlie other day, and Policejudge Lile T. Jacks invited him to spend ten hours as a guest of the municipality in the city prison. No one appeared as an escort, and Bollotti went home. “Wednesday night he remembered the date, and appeared at the city prison with his pyjamas and toothbrush. Ho demanded room and breakfast, but got only a stony stare. He applied at the county gaol with similar results. . Then he returned to the city bastile, still demanding his rights. “ ‘ You get out of here,’ ordered the night gaoler, ‘or I’ll lock you vip.’ “ Bollotti sat on the steps of the Hall of Justice until Judge Jacks arrived to hear his protest. “‘1 have a little influence with the gaoler,' said the judge, ‘and 1 will see what 1 can do.’ “ Bailiff Mansfield Joy introduced Bollotti to the gaoler, and accommodation were provided.”
