CHURCH AND STATE
THE HEW PRAYER BOOK AUSTRALIAN BISHOP’S VIEWS. Press Association —By Telegraph Copyright. SYDNEY, April 12. (Received April 12, at 10.30 a.m.) Speaking at the Anglican Synod at Bathurst, Bishop Long said that one fact that was abundantly evident was that the leaders of the church would not tolerate dictation as to the forms of worship by members of Parliament, many of whom owed no allegiance to the Church of England,_ or even to any form of Christian faith. Forecasting what might happen d the House of Commons repeated -‘s former vote, Bishop Long said that ir this happened tho church would proceed on its own inherent authority to authorise for use forms approved by the Convocation of the church, and leave Parliament to take action upon the situation. This would involve disestablishment, to which he thought no political party was anxious to commit itself.
