There were exciting dealings in gramophone shares on the Stock Exchange on the report of the impending amalgamation of the world’s three largest record manufacturing ■ompinies —the Victor Talking Machine of America, the Gramophone Company, and the Columbia Gramophone Com- ‘ Standard ’ says that two of the Columbia’s directors are now in America negotiating. The officials of the last two named companies say they know nothing of the fusion. The issued capital of the three companies aggregates nearly £12,000.000, but the present market value is almost £30,000,000. —Australian Press Association.
