HEAVY BANK WITHDRAWALS [Special to the ‘ Star.’] WELLINGTON, February 9. The Post Office Savings Bank transactions for the final quarter of 1927 show a remarkable excess of withdrawals. Every district in the dominion showed this tendency, excepting one—New Plymouth, which stands alone in having an excess of deposits, amounting to £10,848, on the total deposits for three months of £279,246. The general figures were: Amount deposited, £7,152,342; withdrawals, £7,909,573; excess of withdrawals, £757,321. The excess of withdrawals in the principal centres were:— Auckland, £82,328.
