; OWNERS’ HANDICAP RACE. Although eighteen entries were promised for the competitors’ handicap motor boat race of the Otago Yacht and Motor Boat Club, only five boats started bn Saturday afternoon. The system of handicapping was being given its first trial by the club, and the racing was very keen. Results:— Stella (ITmin 27isec), 3h 13min 47jsec 1 Miss Bruce (scr), 3h 14min 23sec ... 2 Nomad (25min 7}sec), 3h 16min 241 sec _ 3 Doris (32min 23sec), 3h 17min 23sec 0 Southern Star (24min JOsec), 3h 20min 46sec) 0 The official.? for the day were Messsrs J. Angell, T, Fronde, and AAL Henderson. OTAGO CLUB’S PICNIC. The Otago Yacht Club held a very successful picnic at Blanket Bay yesterday, the members being conveyed to the bay in the following boats; —Aotea, Stella, Grade, Shadow, Eileen, Jewel, Silverocea, Doris, Spitfire, Nomad, Matai, Trixie, Eunice, Naiad, Wild Cat, Lassie, Winifred, Kai Ora, and Miss Bruce. After lunch games were played and a very enjoyable time was spent. The thanks of the club are due to Rear-commodore Hazelwood for placing at the disposal of the committee his fine launch Stella for the conveying of non-boat ov ning members to the bay.
