* There - was a fair attendance at the adjourned summoned meeting of Loyal Gentenary Lodge, M.U.1.0.0.F., the N.G., Bro. J. Farquharson, in the chair. The half-yearly balance-sheet, which was read and adopted, showed the lodge to have made. sound am’ steady progress. At the request of the District Executive, it was agreed that the next Purple Degree' lecture and Past Officers’ Degree meeting should bo held in the Centenary Lodge hall on the 3.lst inst. At the conclusion of business, a pleasant half-hour was spent in relating holiday experiences. The first meeting for the year of the Loyal Band of Friendship' Lodge drew a good attendance of members. One candidate was initiated, it was decided that a letter of congratulation bo forwarded to Bro. Burns, who recently celebrated his diamond wedding. The following'officers were installed lor the ensuing term:—N.G., Bro. V. M'Donald; V.G., Bro. G. Burrell; G.M., Bro. J. M'Donald; E.S., Bro. W. W. Wilson; warden, Bro. W. M'Keuzie; guardian, Bro. E. Jones. The adjourned summoned meeting of the Loyal Caversham Lodge was presided over by N.G. Bro. H. Emmcrsoii, there being a fair attendance of members. Letters of condolence wore received from many sister lodges expressing sympathy with the loss sustained by the Loyal Caversham Lodge by the death of the late per. secretary, Bro. H B. Renfree. A letter was also received from the relatives of the late brother, expressing appreciation of the attention shown by members during Bro. Rcnfrce’s illness. The principal business was the adoption of the annual balance-sheet nad auditor’s report, which disclosed the lodge to be in a very healthy position the total assets now amounting to over £18,300. The wisdom of accumulating the funds during the early years of the lodge is evidenced by the fact that over £6lO in sick benefit was paid out during the year, this amount being £IOO in excess of the contributions of members. Interest on the invested capital showed that the funds are well invested, earning s:| per cent. The hall account, alter meeting heavy expenditure, showed a small credit balance. The report made special reference to the death of fjie late Bro. Ronfreo, after forty-four years of faithful service. The new member campaign committee reported having hold a most successful meeting, and recommended that the lodge aim at initiating 100 new members for this year, and that a circular be sent to every member. Special functions would bo held during the year, commencing with an official visit from all lodges next lodge night. During the evening Bro. W. Mowatt was installed elective secretary, P.G.M. Bro. Roseveare taking charge of the installation ceremony. The balance-sheet of the juvenile lodge was read by P.G. Bro. Isaacs, showing the funds to be in a sound position, and a vote of thanks was accorded the officers and management committee. The toast of “The Visitors ” was responded to by N.G. of Loyal Valley Lodge (Bro. P. Young), who congratulated, the lodge upon the vigorous campaign, and stated that Ins own lodge was also making special efforts, and anticipated no difficulty in securing their full quota of new' members During the evening live candidates were proposed lor membership. At the close of business tbe elective officers met and completed arrangements for entertaining visitors next lodge, night. The fortnightly meeting of th© Loyal Prince of Wales Lodge was presided over by tbe acting N.G., Bro. Campbell. A cordial welcome was extended to the N.G. elect, Bro. Parker, who had been laid aside with sickness for several weeks. Sympathy was expressed with the G.M., Bro. G. Nelson, who is at present an inmate of tho hospital, and sincere wishes were extended for his early recovery. Several members intimated their intention of visiting tho Loyal Band of Friendship Lodge, Kakanui, on February 3, on the occasion of au official visit to that lodge, it was reported that the United Friendly Societies’ Dispensary at Port Chalmers would probably be opened on February 1. One candidate was proposed for membership in the lodge. Owing to next meeting falling on the same night as the degree meeting at Centenary Lodge, at which some of the mcmborswill bo taking degrees, it was decided that the evening be devoted to a friendly card game. Loyal Princess Mary Lodge met m the Lodge Hall, Forbury Corner, a fair attendance of members greeting the N.G., Sister Watt, who was in the chair. It was decided to forward a letter of condolence to the Loyal Cavorshaiu Lodge on the death of the late Bro. Rcnfrco. An enjoyable hour was spent by members giving accounts of their holiday experiences, after which members partook of supper, presided over by Sisters V. M'Kay and J. Robertson. At the fortnightly meeting of Loyal Dalton Lodge there was a good muster of members, N.G. Bro. J. M. Moffat presiding. A letter was received from Loyal Caversham Lodge_ reminding members of the official visit to that lodge on February 1. One candidate was initiated. That members arc entering wholeheartedly into tho “1,000 membership campaign ” was evidenced by the fact that ten proposals for membership were received. Satisfaction was expressed at such, a good start, which it is hoped will be continued. On present indications Dalton Lodge should have no difficulty in securing the requisite quota At the fortnightly meeting of Loyal Albion Lodge, held on Thursday evening, the N.G., Bro. Gifford, presided over an excellent attendance of members and visitors. Three candidates were initiated, and three proposals lor membership received. The N.G. extended a welcome to the permanent secretary of Loyal Vincent Lodge. Bro. O C. A listing, who responded on bthalf of bis lodge and spoke on the good progress made by Loyal Vincent Lodge, which, after being almost defunct a few years ago, now possesses over fifty members. Notification was received from the District Executive of the meeting of the Otago District Standing Committee on February 14, to deal with the application to iorm a new lodge at Pembroke. Advice was also received of the annual purple degree lecture and past officers’ degree meeting at Loyal, Centenary on the 31st inst. The adjourned summoned meeting was then reopened, and the annual balance-sheet was presented by the P.G.M., Bro. Stabb, who referred to the very fine progress made, especially during the past six months, both financially and numerically, tho total funds now totalling over £22,000, and tho membership standing at 437, the largest in the lodge’s history. Appreciative reference was made to the good work of the permanent secretary (Bro. Sullivan) and the treasurer (Bro. S. Smith). The adoption of the balancesheet was seconded by the senior trustee, P.G. Bro. A. J. Smith, who stated that no interest was outstanding. The report and balance-sheet of the United Juvenile Lodge were also read and , adopted, disclosing the juvenile branch to be making steady progress. In connection with the juveniles a strong Management Committee was set up. A motion of condolence with P.P.G.M. Bro. Briggs, on the death of his brother, was carried in silence. I
