RICCARTON TURF NOTES
[Special to tub ‘ Stah.’] CHRISTCHURCH, January 12. Sir Roy looks in the best of health after his holiday racing in the south. He will take a lot of beating in the Tinwald Handicap at the Ashburton Meeting on Saturday, and next week he will be sent to Trentham, where he appears to be remarkably well treated in the Anniversary Handicap. A number of Riccarton horses with engagements' at Trentham will be racing at Ashburton, on Saturday. In the case of a few of them the north trip may depend on Saturday’s form.
The Wellington Racing, Club’s handicapper appears to have a poor opinion of southern form, judged on his treatment of some of the horses who won during the holidays in Otago and in the south, and it will be interesting to note how Celerity 11., Good as Gold, and a few others perform at Trentham.
