THE COMMON COLD

m CURE WILL EVER BE FOUND A LONDON SPECIALIST’S ADVICE. Press Association—By Telegraph—Copyright. LONDON, January 12. (Received January 13, at 8.45 ».m.) Nobody will ever cure the common cold, declared a Harley street doctor in connection with the American cable that £39,000 had been given to the University of Baltimore for the study of the origin, nature, and possible cure of the common cold. The specialist added that the study was a waste of time. The common cold was caused by an enormous variety of organisms. Doctors could give only one advice, and that was keep away from the person with a cold. The best form of prevention was not to catch it, and the best treatment was to remain in a warm, well-ventilated room. The cold had baffled the best medical brains in the world.
