STUDENT CHRISTIAN MOVEMENT
SUMMER CONFERENCE. The annual conference of the New Zealand Student Christian Movement has ended. Waitaki Boys’ High School tras generously placed at the disposal of tho N.Z.S.C.H. One hundred and Seventy students from all New Zealand Colleges attended the conference. The toain study centred round the actions of Jesus as revealing His inner attitude and faith and a number of pertinent questions arose in the group discussions which were held daily. The conference had also the privilege of listening to the Rev. J. R. Blanchard, of Wellington, on ‘ The Reality of and Search for a Personal God.,’ and to Mr Bates, of Otago University, on ' The Possibilities of Life on a Spiritual Basis.’ Later, too, the Bishop of Christthurch gave a most suggestive and fcomprehensive talk on ‘ God in History,’ and Mr Walter Nash dealt with the" problems of the Pacific and their Christian solution. 1 Fellowship Between Men and Women’ was the subject of a talk by Mr Donald Grant, general secretary of the movement, and Dr Holloway, of Otago, gave a Stimulating lecture on ‘ Science and Religion.’ The Bishop of Christchurch, accompanied by Mrs West-Watson, stayed throughout the conference, as did Mr Blanchard. Evenings were devoted to Such subjects as the work of modern Inissions, and the conference was fortunate in the presence of Miss Gavin, from India, and rD Haddow, from China.
