The C. and D. liner Port Dunedin arrived at Gisborne on Monday last from Launceston to commence loading for London. Loading will be completed at Lyttelton and Wellington, and the vessel will sail from Wellington on January 28 for London via Panama. The Waipiata, which has been undergoing survey at Port Chalmers, is expected to sail at 10 o’clock to-mght for Auckland via ports. The. Opihi came up from Port Chalmers this afternoon alter survey to load for Nelson via ports. The Kurow was to leave Auckland today for Wellington, Lyttelton, Timaru, Dunedin, and Bluff. 'fhe Canadian Prospector, which arrived at Auckland from Montreal on Monday, reports having sighted a fourmasted schooner on Friday evening. She was steering an easterly course, but as she did not signal, her name and nationality were not ascertained. The Breeze is due here on Sunday from Lyttelton, and sails on Monday for Timaru, Lyttelton. Wellington, and Wanganui. THE FERRY SERVICE. The ferry steamer Maori, from Wellington, arrived at Lyttelton at 6.4 U a.m. Passengers and mails connected connected with the first express for the south.

WAIHEMO FROM THE EAST. The Union Company’s steamer Waihemo, from Penang, Singapore, and Samarang via northern ports, arrived last evening, and berthed at the Victoria wharf to finish unloading her cargo from Eastern ports. On the trip across the Waihemo experienced fine weather and the voyage was uneventful. On arrival at Auckland several Indian animals for the Auckland Zoo were landed, in addition to produce. Captain F. C. Belton is in command, and the following are the officers: — Chief, Mr C. Burgess; second, Mr W. A. M'Garry; third, Mr R. Duttner; chief engineer, Mr J. E. Hamer; second, Mr M. C. Bryne; third, Mr H. M‘Donald; fourth, Mr J. Longley; wireless operator, Mr S. M’Tavish; chief steward, Mr W. Shirley. The Waihemo was to sail this afternoon for Wellington and Westport. She will bunker at the latter port, and then go to Pacific Coast ports to load for New Zealand. WAIOTAP.U FOR AUCKLAND. The Union Company’s cargo steamer Waiotapu sailed from Los Angeles at 8 p.m. on January 3 for Auckland, Wellington, Melbourne, Sydney, and Newcastle. The vessel is expected to arrive at Auckland on January 28. THE KIA ORA. The Shaw, Savill, and Albion steamer Kia Ora, which reached London on January 4, is scheduled to sail from Liverpool on her return voyage to New Zealand on February 18, and to reach Auckland on March 27. WITH EASTERN CARGO. With Eastern cargo for discharge at Auckland, Wellington, Timaru, Dunedin, and Bluff, under the agency ol the Union Company, the federal steamer Sussex arrived at_ Auckland x iterday from Calcutta via Penang and Singapore. The vessel should reach here about January 22. HUNTINGDON TO-MORROW. Messrs Turnbull, Martin, and Co. advise that the Huntingdon is due here to-morrow from the West Coast of England via northern ports to complete unloading. . SUSSEX AND MESOPOTAMIA CHARTERED. The Sussex has been chartered to load coal at Newcastle next month for Java. The Mesopotamia, which is in dock at Auckland, has been chartered to load phosphates at Nauru Island lor Australia or New Zealand. C. AND D. LINE. The Commonwealth and Dominion Line advises that the P.ort Hacking is now to leave New York on February 25 for Auckland, Wellington, and Dunedin, while the Tasmania will sail on February 29 for Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide, and Fremantle. CYDONIA EXPECTED. Advice has been received from the New Zealand Shipping Company that the steamer Cydonia, from Montreal via Sydney (Cape Breton), Newport News," and Panama, is due at Auckland to-morrow. The vessel is carrying Canadian cargo for discharge’ at Auckland, Wellington, Lvttelton, Dunedin, Sydney, and Melbourne. She is expected here about January 25. CITY OF WINCHESTER. The City of Winchester arrived at Port Chalmers this morning from Timaru to complete loading lor Home. Her freight will include a quantity or wool The vessel is to sail on Tuesday for London via Panama. The City of Winchester is commanded bv Captain A. S.
