Vice-Regal. The Governor-General _ (Sir Charles Fergusson) and Lady Alice Fergusson will arrive in Dunedin by the 4.25 train from the north to-night, and will stay hero till Saturday .morning, when they leave for Southland. The mayor (Mr W. B. Taverner) and the mayoress will welcome their Excellencies at the station. The visit to Dunedin is an unofficial one, and Sir Charles and Lady Fergusson will not take part in any public functions during their stay. Mr J. Sutherland Ross journeyed to Auckland by the through express this morning. - Mr R. B. Stivcn came up from the south by the through express this mornSir Charles Holdsworth, who Ims been on a short visit to Dunedin, returned to Wellington to-day. Mr and Mrs E. J. Dwyer, who have been visiting Dunedin, returned to Sydney this morning. Mr and Mrs H. S. Bingham returned last evening from Franz Joseph and Nelson. On the occasion of his retirement from the position of country traveller for the Waitaki Dairy Company, Mr F. J. M'Donald was met by employers and employees, when Mr S. Bowman presented him with a travelling rug and a case of pities, and Mr R. W. Hall handed him a lady’s handbag for Mrs M'Donald. A gathering of adherents and friends of the Green Island branch of the Salvation Army met on Tuesday evening to bid farewell to Captain and Mrs Mathicson on the eve or their departure for Rangiora after two years’ residence in Green Island. Staff-captain Buttermore, who presided, briefly eulogised the _ good work of Captain and Mrs Matlneson, and wished them success in their new sphere of labor. . Latest arrivals to the Grand Hotel include Mr G. A. Forsgate (Sheffield), Mr G, A. A. Dawson, Mr and Mrs M. Myers, Mr G. A. Myers, Mr and Mrs C. B. Orr-Walker (Wellington). New visitors to the City Hotel include Mr and Master Symcs (Sydney), Miami Mrs D. Collins. Mr A. Giffin and Mr R. A. M'Dowall (Oamaru). Miss Munro (Kurow), and Mr J. M Neill (Queenstown). \mong the new guests at the Excelsior Hotel are Mr, Mrs, and Miss M'Allister (Adelaide), Mr and Mrs Knox (Melbourne), Mrs and Miss Fox (Christchurch), Mr J. Robbie (Gore), Mr J.
