(Received January 12, at 1 a.m.) The Pacific Cable Board’ is deferring ratification of Mr Cooper’s chairmanship, pending the wireless conference on January 16, at which Mr Maurice Headlam, acting chairman, is representing tho board. It is understood that Mr Cooper was selected because be is able to spare the time to tour Australia, New Zealand, hud Canada, to investigate cable operations, which Mr Headlam, as permanent secretary of the National Debt, is precluded from doing.
