Mutton.—Ewes, 4d to 5d (improved, short supplies); wethers, 4|d to 6Jd (demand good and likely to continue); lambs, Hid to 12d (expected to decline owing to high prices checking demand) . Beef, 3d to 4*d (depressed). Pork, 7Jd to Bid. Butter, 160 s to 164 s (steady). Cheese, 92s to 94s (firm).

The demand runs principally on finest qualities. Market for New Zealand mutton firm; demand moderate; Market for Austral inn lamb quiet and unchanged; demand poor.. Market for Australian mutton steady; demand quiet. New Zealand prime North Island lamb—2Bl b to 361 b to 421 b lid; North Island mutton—481b to 561 b 5Jd, 561 b to 641 b s£d, 641 b to 721 b sid; North Island ewes—4Blb to 641 b, sid; third Australian lamb, 6d; Australian ewes, 4d; Argentine chilled—hinds 6£d ; fores, 4id.
