TO-DAY'S GASH PRICES The guide gives the ruling cash prices in the city retail shops. Groceries are being sold at pnetically the, same prices as last week. Eggs are Is 8d dozen; butter is 1s 6d and is 8d lb; cheese sells at Is, Is 2d, and Is 4d (specially strong); bacon is Is 3d and Is 4d lb; prunes are Is packet. Meat prices are as usual, with the exception that lamb is now selling at from 8d lb; mutton ranges from 2d to 7|d; beef from 3d to lid. The prices for fish are:—Soles, from 3s dozen; flounders, from 4s dozen; groper, 8d lb; kingfish, 10d lb; ling, 4d lb; red cod, 4d lb; smoked blue cod, 1s 3d lb; smoked red cod, from 6d each. Vegetable prices are:—Hothouse tomatoes, Is and Is 3d lb; Peninsula potatoes, 31b for Is; Auckland potatoes, 51b for Is; cabbages, 4d and 6d each; cauliflowers, 8d to Is 6d each; lettuce, 3d and 4d; peas, 4d lb; cucumbers, 9d to 1s 6ck 'Fruit is selling at:—Banana*, 8 for 1s; Canadian apples—Delicious and Winesaps, 6 for Is; strawberries, Is 3d to 2s pottle; cherries, 1s 6cl to 2s 6d lb; Californian lemons, 4d each; Valencia oranges, 3 and 4 for Is; peaches, 10d and Is 3d lb; cooking apricots, 6d lb; grape fruit, 6d each; passion fruit, 8 for Is.
