HIGHWAYS COUNCILS

EXTENSION OF ROAD SYSTEM A joint meeting of the No. 10 and the No. 17 District Highways Councils was held to-day, Mr J. R. Marks presiding. The members present were:— No. 16 Council: Messrs J. Preston, G. : Ross, E. Morgan, J. Ritchie, and W. Reid. No. 17 Council: Messrs W* Blackie, H. M. Driver, 1). R. Jack, J. Bennetts, and H. Macandrow. After considerable discussion it was decided that the following roads should be recommended to the Alain Highways Board for declaration as main highways in view of the proposed extension of highways:—Dunback to Middlemarch, Ranfurly loop, St. Bathan’s loop, Ida Valley railway station to Moa Creek, Waipiata to Styx, Lumsden to Kingston to Mount Cook. Green Island to Taicri Mouth, Balclutlia to Kaitangata,. Waiwera to Clydevale, Waiwera railway station to the Dunedin-Invercargill main highway. Tnapeka Month to Evan’s Flat, Owaka, to P.apatawai. Milton to Bull Creek, Dunedin to Highcliff, Portobello to Harrington Point, Outram to Berwick, Dunedin to Muir’s, Kelso to Mathcson’s corner, Waihola to Pomahaka. Waikaka to Kelso, Owaka Valley to Purikiriki, Stoney Creek to Hiilcud.
