EVENING CARNIVAL
SPORTS AND FIREWORKS. The. carnival which was postponed from Thursday will now ho held to-night, whim the whole programme will ho carried out. as previously arranged. In order not to disappoint the public, Ihe whippets are being retained at conskloroble extra expense, and will he seen in hot.h flat and hurdle events. The speed these dogs travel at is remarkable, for Thick Popper, (he champion dog, recently ran 200yds in 12 1 ssec, Excellent entries have been received for liolh the running and cycling events. Webb, of the University (dub, and Peterson, of (bo .Southern (Hub, and Oliver, the League player, will be among the competitors. An added attraction to the cycling event* should he (he pursuit rate, the first of its kind in Dunedin, also the old-timers’ race, in which such well-kown performers .as 11. Withey, J. Eapson, and W. Laws will compete. The meeting will conclude with a display of fireworks by the Chinese residents. The Kaikorai Band will vender a musical programme throughout tho evening.
