WEDDINGS
Tho wedding of Eileen Marjorie Fnsbery (oldest daughter of Mr and Mrs Fosbery Nancarrow, Dunedin) to Bernard Lowry Chambers (son of Mr and Mrs Chambers, of Hawke’s Bay), which was celebrated on Wednesday, November 23, at All Saints’ Church, was one of general New Zealand interest, as these young people aro connected with w'cll-knowu families both in tho North and South Islands. Canon Button officiated, while Mr lan Gordon (Hawke’s Bay) acted as best man. The bride, who was given away by her father, wore an unusually pretty wedding gown made of a deep ivory shade of georgette over satin, with, a gold swathed 5 belt. Tbo skirt was trimmed with tiny georgette frills edged with gold, the beautiful satin train, lined with georgette, being adorned with georgette French roses. The bridal veil was a family one of old Honiton lace, and the toilet was completed with a beautiful bouquet of Marechal Neil roses and sprays of ferns. Two bridesmaids attended—Miss Betty Nancarrow (sister of the bride) and Miss Hazel Chambers (sister of tho bridegroom), both wearing dainty frocks of champagnecolored georgette and lace. with wide hats of the same color trimmed with roses of a deep apricot shade, this tone being repeated in the bouquets of roses. Sirs Chambers looked handsome in black georgette and lace over biscuit-colored silk, with a big black hat, her bouquet being of carnations. Sirs Nancarrow chose a smoke-blue gown of heavy silk and georgette, with touches or soft grey, and with this a, blue hat with the same toned prey feathers, a vivid touch being added is the red rose bouquet. Mrs Nancarrow (grandmother ol the bride) wore a black satin gown and cape, with a bisquit-colored collar and a black hat. After the wedding a reception was held at the Somerset Lounge, which was beautifully decorated with blue delphiniums, pink carnations, sweetwilliams, and a, large wedding bell over the door. The guests included Mrs Chas. Gordon, of H. 8., wearing a black gown of satin and georgette, with a fawn-colored feather boa and a smart, black hat; Mrs Douglas Cox, of Canterbury, in pale blue crepe de chine, with a handsome boa and a black hat; Mrs Donald M'Lean, of Canterbury, in navy blue, with a hat to match and a brown fur; Mrs Saunders, ’of H. 8., in black satin, with touches of color, and a model hat to match; Mr and Mrs Orbell, Mr and Mrs Ernest Macassey, Mr and the blisses Webster, Mrs J. S. Hislop, Mrs HenIcy, Mrs Black, Canon and Sirs Button, Mr Hartmann, Misses Fairbairu gj), Graham (2), Ensor, Hartmann (3), Beeves, Oram, Hogg, Williams (2), Johnstone, and Hislop. Later on tho newly-wedded ones left for a few weeks’ travel. The bride wore an elegant ensemble suit of the new rosc-beigo crepe do chine,' the coat being trimmed with pleated, ribbon, a hat to match completing the outfit.
On tbo evening of November 17 a very pretty wedding was solemnised at St. Andrew Street Church of Christ. Tho church was tastefully decorated by friends of the bride. Tho contracting parties were Gertrude Ellen Watson, niece of Mr and Mrs T. R. Christie, Dunedin, and James Jeffrey, eldest son of Mr and Mrs J. Lowe, Roslyn. The bride, who entered tho church on tho arm of her uncle, Mr A. M'Leod, looked charming in a beautiful frock of silver lace over ivory satin, with bunches of orange blossom on the skirt. Her veil, kindly lent by her aunt, was draped from a tiara of orange and myrtle blossom. She wore silver shoes and stockings, and carried an Early Victorian posy, with a frill of silver lace and silver streamers. The bridesmaid, Miss Winifred Ingram, wore a very pretty apricot satin Victorian frock with an inset panel of gold lace frills and a black picture hat. She carried a posy toning wifi her frock. The two flower girls, Mies May Lowe (sister of the bridegroom) and little Barbara M/Leod (cousin of the bride) wore dainty powder blue georgette frocks, with, skirts composed of colored hand-made flowers. The ceremony was • performed by .Pastor-W. DMore, while Mr H. F. Skeet made an efficient best man. Later the guests adjourned to the Embassy Salon, where the usual toasts were honored.
On Tuesday, November 22, a very -pretty wedding took place in All Saints’ Church, when Gwendoline Mary, second daughter of Mr and Mrs E. R. Green, of 73 Royal crescent, Musselburgh, was married to James Loudon, second son of Mr and Mrs D. W. Johnston, 547 George street, Dunedin. The Rev. A. Wingfield officiated. The bride, who was given away by her father, looked; charming -ja .a g&sm -fif
ivory georgette. She wore a lovely' veil of tulle, secured with silver leaves aud a wreath of orange blossom, and a handsome rope of pearls. She carried a bouquet of white azaleas and maidenhair fern. The maid of honor, Miss Dorothy Green, youngest sister of the bride, and the bridesmaid, Miss Winnie Johnston, sister of the bridegroom, wore pretty frocks of powder-blue georgette and small blue hats, adorned with pink florets, and they carried Victorian posies in corresponding colors. Mrs Green, mother of the bride, wore a handsome frock of black _ crcpo de chine, with Oriental trimming, and a. black hat, and she canned a bouquet of crimson roses and gold pansies. Mrs D. W. Johnston, mother of the bridegroom, w - oro black georgette, trimmed with apple-green lace, a black hat relieved with green, and had a bouquet of yellow roses. Mr I>. M'Konzie was best man, and Mr N. Johnston groomsman. After the ceremony Mr and Mrs 11. R. Green held a reception in the Strand Salon, George street. The young couple were the recipients of many beautiful presents and congratulatory messages. Tho bride’s travelling costume consisted of a simple frock of blue crepe de chine, a small blue hat, and a handsome fur coat, the gift of tho bridegroom. Tho guests included Mr and Mrs D. W. Johnston, Miss E. A. Green, Mrs and Miss Blyth, Mrs S. G. Smith (Auckland), Mr and Mrs it. Green, Mrs T. Fleming (Timani), Mr and Mrs J. L. Johnston, Rev. and Mrs A. Wingfield, Mrs W.' W. King, Mr and Mrs llobt. Howorth, Mr and Mrs D. M. Fasticr, Mr and Mrs W. Johnston, Mr and Mrs R. F. Johnston, Mr and Mrs P. S. Anderson, Mr ami Mrs T. Elliott, Mr and Mrs J. 0. Elliott, Mr and Mrs A.
