WINDOW DRESSING

Window dressing is an art which is very much neglected by electrical contractors possessing , suitable show windows. They are, hoyever, not the only olTenders, for, as Sir Charles Tiigham said at the National Display Convention at Leicester; “Britain makes the best goods in the -world and displays them worst” (comments an English journal). Wo would paraphrase this remark and say that the electrical contractor has goods which should appeal to the housewife more than any others, but he displays them in such a way as to rob them of that appeal. Wo 'arc, of course, speaking generally, and have vividly in mind several 'striking exceptions, but the average contractor is slow_ to realise the opportunities ho is missing by failing to make proper use of his window. Whereas other traders can only use their windows for ilie purpose of selling goods to the public, tlio contractor can make double use of his. By incorporating color and other lighting effects ho can present display methods which will appeal to other retailers in the neighborhood, and so secure a number of useful orders for special window lighting equipment.
